Capcon Celebrates 10 Years in Business

Today, the 6th November 2020 marks Capcon’s 10th year in business. Under normal circumstances we would likely be marking this milestone with a celebration, inviting our staff, clients and supporters and having a grand old time of it. We all remember what that was like! However, after an extraordinary year of uncertainty and constant fluctuation across so much of our personal and business lives, we will be celebrating a little more soberly (pardon the pun). And with the second lockdown in play across Ireland, we are just grateful that construction has been deemed an essential service. We can at least get on with providing our services to customers in both the engineering and construction sectors.

Award Nomination

As luck would have it, we’ll be marking the occasion by participating in the virtual ICE Awards that takes place online this Saturday evening. Capcon Building is shortlisted for the Residential Project of the Year award for excellence of work carried out in the development of Cluain Dara Estate, Carbury, co. Kildare. The competition for the award is fierce, and we are very proud to be nominated in such good company. We wish all nominees the very best of luck. Special mention to the ICE Awards organisers and their efforts in turning the night into a fun and connected (via a social event platform) evening for all.

Engineering

Capcon Engineering began operations in late 2010. We started by delivering a diverse range of services to the construction and property industries, including pipe rehabilitation, leak detection, asset management, minor civils and rainwater drainage. The company worked on projects across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. In 2016 we made a strategic decision within our engineering unit to specialise and began to focus exclusively on the design, supply and installation of engineered drainage solutions.

Building Homes

House building has always been a part of our DNA with Eugene Finn Snr’s first development breaking ground 1979. For this reason, we were particularly proud to establish Capon Building in mid-2011. Following on from this we formed development company Landport Estates which was recently rebranded as Alder Homes. In recent years, we have delivered in excess of 100 homes, with 30 more currently under construction. Alder Homes has an ambitious growth plan with several new sites in development, set to double our current output.

Looking Forward

Despite a most unusual year, we are very optimistic about 2021 and beyond. Early next year, we will be announcing a new acquisition to complement our existing engineering services. Alder Homes are very much looking forward to the design and development of many new homes across the Leinster region.

And sometime next year, all boding well, we may just celebrate our 11th anniversary in the more traditional way.
